FAQs
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q. Is this site secure?
A. Absolutely! Transmission of your credit card details over the Internet uses 128 bit encryption techniques. This is same technique that banks use.
Q. What kind of people will I meet?
A. Our guests tend to be single professionals. Speed dating is still a relatively new concept, so our guests are the early adopters that try out new things before the rest of society.
FastLife is the only speed dating service that tailors the guestslist - other services operate a first come first served format with pre-set age ranges for each event - we set our schedule based on your demand, nothing else. When we're making up the guest list we consider your age, age group preference and an element of personality profiling before inviting you to an event. This ensures that you're only receiving invitations to events that are right for you!
Q. Will I meet new people at each event?
A. Whilst we can't guarantee that ALL participants will be new, our system will not allow you to be included in a speed dating event where there are more than two people whom you have previously met.
Please note: the system makes this check at the point when you attempt to accept an invitation. If there are two people who you have met before that have already been included in the event, the system will tell you the two people’s first names and initials, if you're happy to meet those people again you may accept the invitation. If there are more than 2 people that you have met before, the system will not allow you to accept the invitation. Further, if your acceptance would push someone else who has already accepted over the two person maximum, the system will not allow you to accept the invitation. We apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause.
Q. When are the events held?
A. According to our reseeach, our guests have busy social lives on the weekend, so most FastLife events are held on weekdays.
Q. What time do the events begin and end?
A. Most of our speed dating events begin between 7:00pm and 7:30pm, depending on the venue. You'll receive a complimentary drink upon arrival and the actual dates start promptly 15 minutes later and run for approximately 2 hours. There is a 10-15 minute break half way through the event.
Q. How long is each date?
A. Each date is between 3 and 4 minutes long, depending on the size of the event. According to our research, this is the optimal length of time to decide if they've made a positive first impression on you.
Q. What can I expect at a FastLife speed dating event?
A. You can expect between a series of mini dates with opposite sex singles in your preferred age range. You'll receive a complimentary drink on arrival as well as table service during the event. At the beginning of the event you'll be issued with a match card to keep with you for the evening. On this card you'll vote yes or no to each person. Later when your expertly-trained host calculates the matches from the event, you'll receive the name and contact information of each of your matches.
Q. Can I sign up with a friend?
A. Yes. You can register with up to 3 buddies. To register for a speed date, simply follow the step-by-step instructions. You and your buddies will be invited to the same speed dating event, so please try and make sure you're all of a similar age.
Q. Are there always equal numbers of men and women at these events?
A. We go to very great lengths to ensure that we have an equal number of men and women at each of our events. We ensure that we have the required number of people confirmed and we send out several email and SMS reminders. We also ask people to let us know if they can no longer make it as we can usually fill a space, even at the last minute. Nevertheless, not everyone lets us know if they can no longer make it, so from time to time there will be unequal numbers, despite our best efforts.
Q. Is speed dating safe?
A. FastLife Speed Dating is the safest and most non-threatening way to meet new people nowadays. We encourage our guests to neither ask for nor give out their contact details during the event. You can leave that part up to us - so you don't feel you have to give your number to someone you don't want to and only people contacting you will be the people you felt a spark with.
At FastLife we also screen our participants to exclude those who are either painfully shy or sheer nutters! We also guarantee that 70% of the participants at your event will be within your preferred age range so please bring along a piece of identification. We'll be conducting random ID checks at events to make sure everyone's the age they say they are.
Q. What if there are no parties posted that suit my preferences?
A. If we have no parties posted that suit your preferences, you will have the option to prepay for an event - letting us know you're keen to attend. Once you've made your payment you will be a priority members and be emailed invitations to events before anyone else. You'll also receive a £5 discount! Please note: we will only except payment if we are able to send you an invitation within 4 weeks.
Q. What age groups do you cater for?
A. This varies from city to city. We only cater to age groups where there is sufficient demand. In the larger cities (like London) we cater for people aged 20 - 65, in the smaller cities we typically cater for people aged 20 - 50. (Please note that these are guidelines only and actual age ranges vary by city and over time). You may still register if you are not in these age groups, however you will not be able to pay up front.
Q. What's the dress code?
A. You're going on a series of first dates, so dress to impress!

Q. How soon after registering will I be sent my invitation?
A. We wait until enough compatible people have registered before creating a party. Once a suitable party has been created we will email you an invitation - usually within 2 weeks of registering. If you are not able to make it on the day indicated, don't worry, just let us know and you will automatically be invited to the next suitable event.
Certain types of registrations may take longer than others, in particular, if you're a woman over 40 and you have selected to meet men that are younger it can take some time to create an event that will be suitable for you. This is due to the fact that we need to wait for sufficient men that want to meet older women to register.
Q. I have registered and paid but have not received an invitation, why not?
A. There are 3 possibilities here.
- Firstly, if you've submitted a Hotmail or Yahoo email address it could be that invitations from FastLife are being divereted to your junk mail folders. Click here to find out how to add Fast Life to your address book.
- Secondly, if you're using a Hotmail or Yahoo email address it could be that your inbox is full. If your inbox is full incoming mail cannot be delivered. If we attempt to deliver an email and it fails 3 times in a row your membership will be de-activated. Please contact us and we will re-activate your membership.
- Thirdly, sometimes it takes a little longer than 2 weeks to send an invitation to paid members. Around 50% of guests are sent an invitation within 1 week, and 95% of guests are sent an invitation within 2 weeks, however 5% may have to wait a week or so longer. This is because we wait for the right number of people to register before sending invitations. The 2 week period is only a guideline.
Q. How soon after the event will I receive my matches?
A. Matches are emailed to participants within 48 hours. Usually they will be sent before midday the day after the event, however if there is some following up needed it can take a little longer.
Q. How will my matches contact me?
A. We'll provide your matches with the email address or phone number you gave us for matches when you registered. You can select how you would like to be contacted.
Q. Who calls Who?
A. We encourage both parties to call or email each other. Remember, you already know the other person is interested in meeting you!
Q. What's the average match rate for an evening?
A. While each evening is unique and match rates vary, our average evening produces a match rate of 90.1%! Most people average around 3 matches per event.
Q. What if I need to cancel?
A. Please visit our Refunds & Disclaimer page for our cancellation policy.
Q. Does FastLife cater for gays and lesbians?
A. Absolutely! When you register, you are asked your sex and the sex of the people you would like to meet. You will then be invited to an event that caters for your particular sexual orientation. Same sex events are facilitated slightly differently from straight events, our experienced hosts determining who will remain seated and who will move from table to table.
Q. Will you run special FastLife sessions for private groups?
A. Yes! FastLife will be happy to come to the location of your choice and run an official speed dating party just for your members. Just email us information about your group and we'll take it from there.
Q. Why do some of your special interest events have different age ranges for men and women?
A. Our research indicates that most women are comfortable with meeting men who are a few years older than themselves, and most men want to meet women who are younger than themselves. Staggered age ranges increase the chances that our participants will meet someone who they want to date. This also means that more people sign up for the events which increases the chances for everyone of making a connection.
Q. I have a credit card, but don’t want to pay online?
A:.If you prefer not to pay online you may choose to make a payment by telephone. Call our friendly customer service team at 1 800 406 0832 and they will process your payment. Remember you still need to complete the registration form to become a FastLife member.
Q. How do I become a priority member?
A. Priority members are sent invitations first. These are members who have registered and provided advance payment. This payment covers the first event and they will receive priority invitations via email to the very first event that matches their preferences. Upon receiving their invitation, they can either accept or decline a space.
Becoming a priority member is a good idea for a number of reasons:
1. If you’re registering with a limited time offer, you need to register with payment within the deadline to benefit from the offer. Once the offer has expired the price will return to the regular price.
2. If you've heard about hugely popular events and you want to attend an event as soon as possible then you should pay upfront.
Q. What if I still have more questions?
A. If more questions are still swirling around in your head, you can email us at info@fastlife.co.uk or you can just take a deep breath, relax, go ahead and register for a speed dating party and then leave the rest to us.
